Mark A. Monaco Memorial Scholarship — 2001 Recipients
Heather Jakubowski
This year's recipient of the Mark Allan Monaco Memorial Scholarship was Heather Jakubowski. The $500 scholarship was presented at the forty-seventh Annual Commencement of the Maryvale High School at Villa Maria College, Saturday, June 23, 2001. The annual scholarship is presented to a graduate who reflects Mark's characteristics as being outstanding in leadership, character, scholarship and has been accepted at an institution of higher learning.
Heather's scholastic accomplishments include being a National Honor Society Member as well as serving as Vice President. In addition, to being on the Honor Roll, grades 9-12, she received 7 Spotlight awards during high school. She was actively involved in the Future Business Leaders of America, (FBLA) at Maryvale serving as reporter and secretary. Heather earned a third place for "Local Chapter Annual Business Report" and second place in "Business Communications" in FBLA New York State Competitions. She also served as the Co-manager of the school bookstore during her senior year. Besides being involved in various FBLA community activities, Heather was a religion teacher during 10th grade. She plans to attend the University of Buffalo this fall and pursue her dream to become a lawyer.
