Mark A. Monaco Memorial Scholarship — 1999 Recipients

Raymond Sroka

"Sroka is a National Merit Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and the winner of the Elmira College Key Award and Student Faculty Government, Business, and Music Awards for outstanding academic and leadership qualities he showed during his career at Maryvale High.

The young man also won a NYS Regents Scholarship, the Tops Scholarship, and the University of Buffalo Honor Scholarship. Sroka will study Biology this fall as a part of UB's Honors Program. He received Maryvale's Scholar/Athlete Award and the Presidential Academic Fitness Award. Meanwhile, he also as an active participant in the school's Orchestra and Jazz Band, in the Future Business Leaders of America, the school chorus and Varsity Volleyball team. And, all this in addition to being a three year member of the Spirit of Youth and working with the Cheektowaga YES Program."
